Perfect 20-Minute Mummy Hot Dogs (Easy Sheet Pan Dinner)

These quick mummy hot dogs are a fun and easy weeknight dinner made with just four ingredients: hot dogs, crescent roll dough, cheese, and mustard. Ready in 20 minutes, they’re perfect for Halloween parties or busy Tuesdays.

  • 8 standard-sized hot dogs (beef, pork, turkey, or plant-based)
  • 2 cans (8 ounces each) crescent roll dough
  • 8 slices cheddar or mozzarella cheese
  • Mustard or ketchup (for eyes)
  • Cooking spray or parchment paper

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Pat each hot dog dry with a paper towel. If using extra-long hot dogs, cut them in half crosswise.
  3. Wrap each hot dog with a slice of cheese. Place a cheese slice on a flat surface, put the hot dog on one edge, and roll it up.
  4. Open the crescent roll dough. Unroll each can and separate into triangles along the perforated lines. You should have 8 triangles total from 2 cans.
  5. Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, slice each triangle lengthwise into 3-4 thin strips, about 1/2 inch wide.
  6. Take the dough strips and wrap them around each cheese-covered hot dog, starting at one end and working to the other. Leave a small gap at the top for the mummy’s face (about 1/2 inch of exposed hot dog). Overlap the strips slightly and press the ends gently to seal.
  7. Place the mummies on the baking sheet about 2 inches apart.
  8. Optional: Brush with egg wash (1 egg whisked with 1 tablespoon water) or melted butter for a golden finish.
  9. Bake for 12-15 minutes, until the dough is golden brown and puffed.
  10. Let the mummies cool on the baking sheet for 2-3 minutes. Use a toothpick to dab tiny dots of mustard or ketchup onto the exposed hot dog for eyes.
  11. Serve immediately.

Notes

Keep the dough cold until ready to use. Don’t over-wrap with too many layers of dough. Leave a gap at the top for the face to let steam escape. Space mummies out on the baking sheet for even browning. Can be assembled up to 4 hours ahead and refrigerated. Can be frozen before or after baking.
