These creamy, tangy deviled eggs get a Halloween makeover with a natural orange color from turmeric and a striking black sesame seed garnish. A lighter twist on a classic appetizer, perfect for spooky gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 large eggs, hard-boiled and peeled
  • 1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon pickle brine
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon black sesame seeds
  • Fresh chives or dill, finely chopped (optional)

Instructions

  1. Hard-boil the eggs: Place eggs in a medium saucepan, cover with cold water by 1 inch. Bring to a rolling boil over high heat. Cover, turn off heat, and let sit for exactly 10 minutes.
  2. Shock the eggs: Transfer eggs to an ice bath and let sit for at least 5 minutes to stop cooking and ease peeling.
  3. Peel and halve the eggs: Gently crack and peel eggs under cool running water. Pat dry. Cut each egg in half lengthwise. Pop yolks into a mixing bowl; place whites on a serving platter cut-side up.
  4. Make the filling: Add Greek yogurt, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, pickle brine, turmeric, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper to the yolks. Mash with a fork until smooth. Taste and adjust seasoning.
  5. Fill the eggs: Transfer filling to a piping bag or zip-top bag with a small corner snipped off. Pipe filling into each egg white half, mounding slightly.
  6. Add the spooky topping: Sprinkle black sesame seeds generously over the filling. Add chopped chives or dill if desired.
  7. Chill and serve: Refrigerate for 15 minutes to firm up. Serve cold or at room temperature.

Notes

For best results, use older eggs for easier peeling. Let the filling sit for 5 minutes after mixing to allow turmeric color to deepen. Keep filling and whites separate if making ahead to prevent sogginess.
