A refreshing and easy fall cocktail made with dry white wine, apple cider, and cinnamon sticks. This light sangria comes together in minutes and is perfect for gatherings or a cozy night in.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 bottle (750 ml) dry white wine (like Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Grigio)
  • 2 cups (480 ml) chilled, unfiltered apple cider
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) apple brandy or Calvados (optional, but recommended)
  • 23 tablespoons (3045 ml) honey or maple syrup (to taste)
  • 2 medium apples (Honeycrisp, Fuji, or Gala), thinly sliced
  • 1 medium orange (navel or cara cara), thinly sliced into rounds
  • 23 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 cup (240 ml) sparkling water or club soda (for serving)
  • Ice cubes (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Wash the apples and orange. Slice the apples into thin rounds or half-moons. Slice the orange into thin rounds.
  2. In a large pitcher, pour the entire bottle of chilled white wine. Add the 2 cups of chilled apple cider and the 1/2 cup of apple brandy (if using). Stir gently.
  3. Add 2-3 tablespoons of honey or maple syrup. Stir vigorously for about 30 seconds to dissolve the sweetener.
  4. Add the sliced apples, sliced oranges, and 2-3 cinnamon sticks. Stir to combine, ensuring the cinnamon sticks are submerged.
  5. Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably 4-6 hours or overnight.
  6. When ready to serve, fill glasses with ice. Give the sangria a final stir, then pour into glasses, filling them about 3/4 full. Top each glass with a splash of sparkling water or club soda. Garnish with a piece of infused fruit or a fresh cinnamon stick.

Notes

For best flavor, let the sangria sit for 4-6 hours or overnight. Do not add sparkling water to the whole pitcher; add it to each glass individually to keep the fizz. If you prefer a stronger cinnamon flavor, toast the cinnamon sticks in a dry skillet for 30-60 seconds before adding. The sangria will keep in the refrigerator for up to 3 days; remove the fruit after 24 hours if storing longer.
