A quick and easy honey mustard glazed chicken breast recipe that delivers juicy, flavorful chicken with a perfect balance of sweet and tangy glaze. Ideal for busy weeknights and casual dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 6 oz / 170 g each)
  • 1/4 cup honey (60 ml)
  • 3 tablespoons Dijon mustard (45 ml)
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard (15 ml)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar (15 ml)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (30 ml)
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme or rosemary, chopped (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (205°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together honey, Dijon mustard, yellow mustard, minced garlic, apple cider vinegar, smoked paprika (if using), and chopped fresh thyme or rosemary. Set aside.
  3. Pat the chicken breasts dry with paper towels and season both sides generously with salt and pepper.
  4. Heat olive oil in an oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. When shimmering, add the chicken breasts and sear without moving for 3 to 4 minutes until golden brown on one side. Flip and sear the other side for another 3 minutes.
  5. Brush the glaze generously over the chicken breasts and spoon some extra glaze around the pan.
  6. Transfer the skillet to the oven and bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C). If you don’t have an oven-safe skillet, transfer the chicken and glaze to a baking dish before baking.
  7. Remove from the oven and let the chicken rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
  8. Drizzle any pan juices over the top and garnish with fresh herbs if desired.

Notes

If the glaze thickens too much in the oven, add a splash of water or chicken broth before serving to loosen it. Watch the chicken closely towards the end of baking to avoid drying out. Marinating the chicken in the glaze for 20-30 minutes before cooking can enhance flavor but is optional. Resting the chicken after baking locks in juices for tenderness.
