A festive and flavorful twist on classic jello shots featuring vodka and fresh berries, perfect for summer parties and casual gatherings.

  • 2 packets unflavored gelatin powder (about 14 grams)
  • 1 cup (240 ml) water for dissolving gelatin
  • 1 cup (240 ml) cold water to mix with vodka and juice
  • 1 cup (240 ml) vodka (smooth brand like Tito’s or Absolut)
  • 1 cup fresh berries (raspberries, blueberries, sliced strawberries)
  • 1 cup (240 ml) lemon-lime soda or sparkling water (diet soda optional)
  • 1/2 cup (100 grams) sugar
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Pour 1 cup (240 ml) of cold water into a heatproof bowl and sprinkle the unflavored gelatin evenly over the surface. Let it sit undisturbed for 5 minutes to bloom.
  2. Transfer the bloomed gelatin to a medium saucepan. Add 1 cup (240 ml) of water and 1/2 cup (100 grams) sugar. Heat over low-medium heat, stirring gently until gelatin and sugar dissolve, about 3-5 minutes. Avoid boiling.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in 1 cup (240 ml) vodka and 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice. Mix well.
  4. Place 3-4 fresh berries into each shot cup, washed and patted dry.
  5. Ladle the gelatin-vodka mixture over the berries in each cup, filling about three-quarters full, leaving space for soda.
  6. Refrigerate the cups for 2-3 hours or until gelatin is firm.
  7. Top each shot with about 1 tablespoon of chilled lemon-lime soda or sparkling water. Return to fridge for 30 minutes to set the soda layer slightly.
  8. Serve cold directly from the fridge. Pop out from silicone molds or spoon from plastic cups.

Notes

Do not boil gelatin mixture to avoid ruining setting power. Use smooth vodka brands to avoid harsh flavors. Fresh berries preferred but frozen can be used if thawed and drained. Add soda gently on top to keep fizz. Chill overnight for best results. For easier removal, use silicone molds and dip briefly in warm water if sticking.
