These turkey and cream cheese pinwheel roll-ups are a quick, easy, and satisfying lunchbox favorite featuring creamy, savory filling wrapped in soft tortillas. Perfect for busy mornings and kid-friendly meals.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Large flour tortillas (soft and pliable, about 8-10 inch diameter)
  • 8 oz (225 g) cream cheese, softened (full-fat preferred)
  • 68 slices deli turkey, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh chives (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup (50 g) shredded cheddar cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Soften the cream cheese by removing it from the fridge about 15 minutes before starting or microwaving for 10 seconds until soft but not melted.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, mayonnaise, garlic powder, chopped chives (if using), salt, and pepper. Stir until smooth and well combined.
  3. Lay each tortilla flat on a clean surface or cutting board.
  4. Spread an even, thin layer (about 2 tablespoons) of the cream cheese mixture over each tortilla, leaving about 1/2 inch clear around the edges.
  5. Layer 3-4 slices of deli turkey evenly over the cream cheese spread.
  6. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly on top of the turkey if using.
  7. Starting at one edge, carefully roll the tortilla tightly into a log shape without rushing to avoid tearing or squishing the filling.
  8. Wrap each rolled tortilla tightly in plastic wrap or parchment paper and chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
  9. After chilling, unwrap and slice each roll into 1-inch thick pinwheel pieces using a sharp knife with a gentle sawing motion.
  10. Arrange the pinwheels on a plate or pack into lunch containers and keep refrigerated until ready to eat.

Notes

Warm tortillas slightly if they crack while rolling. Do not skip chilling as it firms the roll-ups and makes slicing easier. Use a sharp knife and gentle sawing motion to slice clean pinwheels. Customize with flavored cream cheese or add-ins like cucumber or spinach. Not recommended to freeze after slicing; freeze whole rolls if needed.
