A quick and easy buffalo chicken dip with a fun spiderweb design, perfect for game day. Made with simple ingredients like cream cheese, buffalo sauce, and shredded chicken, it comes together in about 20 minutes and is always a crowd-pleaser.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened to room temperature
  • 2 cups cooked shredded chicken (rotisserie chicken works great)
  • 1/2 cup buffalo wing sauce (preferably Frank’s RedHot)
  • 1/2 cup ranch dressing (or blue cheese dressing)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese, divided
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/3 cup sour cream (for spiderweb design)
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder (optional)
  • Green onions or chives for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Ensure cream cheese is softened to room temperature.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, buffalo sauce, and ranch dressing. Stir until smooth and no white streaks remain. Add garlic powder and onion powder if using.
  3. Add shredded chicken to the bowl and fold until evenly coated. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
  4. Stir in half of the cheddar cheese and all of the mozzarella cheese until well mixed.
  5. Transfer mixture to a 9-inch pie plate or small baking dish. Spread into an even layer without pressing down too hard.
  6. Sprinkle remaining cheddar cheese evenly over the top.
  7. Bake for 15-18 minutes, until edges are bubbly and cheese is melted and slightly golden.
  8. While dip bakes, stir sour cream in a small bowl until smooth. If too thick, add a teaspoon of milk or water.
  9. Remove dip from oven and let cool for 2 minutes. Drizzle sour cream in a spiral pattern from center outward. Use a toothpick or knife to drag lines from center outward through the sour cream, creating a spiderweb design.
  10. Garnish with chopped green onions or chives if desired. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

Room temperature cream cheese is essential for smooth blending. Don’t overbake; pull when edges bubble. Let dip cool 2 minutes before adding sour cream spiderweb to prevent melting. Shred your own cheese for best melt. Double recipe for larger crowds. Can be assembled ahead (minus spiderweb) and refrigerated up to 24 hours; add 5 minutes to bake time. Freezes well before baking for up to 3 months.
