A simple, no-stress charcuterie board designed for a cozy date night. With just 15 minutes of prep and a handful of well-chosen ingredients, you can create an intimate and delicious meal that encourages sharing and connection.

Ingredients

  • Brie or Camembert (about 4 oz)
  • Aged Cheddar (about 4 oz, sliced or cubed)
  • Manchego or Gouda (about 4 oz, sliced)
  • Blue cheese (optional, about 2 oz)
  • Prosciutto (about 4 oz, thinly sliced)
  • Salami or Soppressata (about 4 oz, sliced)
  • Chorizo (about 4 oz, sliced)
  • Crackers or crostini (about 16-20 total)
  • Fresh fruit: grapes, sliced apple, or pear
  • Dried fruit: figs, apricots, or dates
  • Nuts: almonds, walnuts, or pistachios (about 1/2 cup)
  • Jam or honey (fig jam, quince paste, or honey)
  • Olives or cornichons (optional, about 1/2 cup)
  • Dark chocolate squares or chocolate-covered almonds (optional, for a romantic touch)

Instructions

  1. Take the cheese out of the fridge 30 minutes before serving. Unwrap and let it breathe on a plate.
  2. Choose a clean, dry board or platter (about 12-14 inches across).
  3. Place the cheeses first, evenly spaced. Cut hard cheeses into thin slices or small cubes; leave soft cheeses whole.
  4. Add the meats: fold prosciutto into loose ribbons, roll salami into cylinders or fold into quarters. Place near complementary cheeses.
  5. Fill in with accompaniments: place small bowls of jam, honey, and olives in gaps. Add clusters of fruit, nuts, and dried fruit around the board.
  6. Add crackers last, arranged in small stacks or fans around the edges (about 8-10 per person).
  7. Finish with garnishes: fresh herbs like rosemary or thyme, edible flowers (optional), and a light drizzle of honey over the brie.
  8. Serve immediately with small plates, napkins, and a knife for each person.

Notes

For best flavor, let cheese sit at room temperature for 30 minutes before serving. Don’t overcrowd the board; leave space between items. Use small bowls for jam and honey to avoid sticky mess. If prepping ahead, keep components separate in the fridge and assemble just before serving. For a warm brie, bake at 350°F for 5-7 minutes and drizzle with honey.
