These Easy Mummy Hot Dogs with Spooky Mustard Eyes are a fun, quick, and delicious Halloween snack made with just 3 main ingredients. Ready in 20 minutes, they are kid-approved and perfect for parties.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package (8-count) hot dogs
  • 1 can (8-count) crescent roll dough
  • Yellow mustard (for the eyes)
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon water (for egg wash)
  • Sesame seeds or poppy seeds (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Unroll crescent dough and separate into 8 triangles along perforated lines.
  3. Cut each triangle lengthwise into 4-5 thin strips (about 1/2 inch or 1.25 cm wide).
  4. Place a hot dog at the wide end of the strips and wrap the dough strips around the hot dog, slightly overlapping, leaving a 1/2 inch (1.25 cm) gap at the top for the face.
  5. Arrange wrapped hot dogs on the prepared baking sheet, leaving about 1 inch (2.5 cm) space between each.
  6. Whisk egg and water together. Lightly brush the dough strips with egg wash, avoiding the exposed hot dog. Sprinkle with sesame or poppy seeds if using.
  7. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown and puffed.
  8. Cool for 2 minutes on the baking sheet.
  9. Dip a toothpick into yellow mustard and dot two small eyes onto the exposed hot dog at the top of each mummy. Optionally add a tiny dot for a mouth.
  10. Serve immediately.

Notes

For best texture, cut dough into thin strips (about 1/2 inch wide). Leave a clear gap at the top for the face. Add mustard eyes after baking for bright color. Can be frozen unbaked; bake from frozen adding 2-3 minutes.
