Quick and easy churro bites made from refrigerated biscuit dough, air fried to crispy perfection and coated in cinnamon sugar, served with a rich chocolate dipping sauce.

  • 1 can refrigerated biscuit dough (about 8 ounces / 226 grams)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (100 grams)
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted (45 grams)
  • 4 ounces dark or milk chocolate, chopped or chips (115 grams)
  • 1/3 cup heavy cream (80 ml)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Optional: pinch of salt for chocolate sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) and let it warm up for 3-5 minutes.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix granulated sugar and ground cinnamon until well combined; set aside.
  3. Open the can of biscuit dough and separate the biscuits. Cut each biscuit into 6-8 small pieces (about 1 inch or 2.5 cm).
  4. Place the dough pieces in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Cook in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding.
  5. Air fry for 8-10 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through to ensure even browning, until golden brown and cooked through.
  6. While the bites cook, melt the butter in a small bowl or saucepan.
  7. Immediately toss the hot churro bites in the melted butter, then transfer to the cinnamon sugar mixture and toss until well coated.
  8. To make the chocolate sauce, combine chopped chocolate and heavy cream in a small saucepan over low heat. Stir gently until smooth and glossy.
  9. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract and a pinch of salt if using.
  10. Serve the churro bites warm with the chocolate sauce on the side for dipping.

Notes

Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket to ensure crispiness. Toss bites immediately in melted butter after air frying to help cinnamon sugar stick. Melt chocolate slowly over low heat with cream to avoid clumping. If bites are not crispy enough, air fry for an additional 1-2 minutes watching closely to avoid burning. Can be adapted for gluten-free and dairy-free diets by substituting ingredients.
