A refreshing and cozy fall drink combining fresh apple cider, brown sugar, cinnamon, and sparkling water for a light, bubbly beverage with warm autumn flavors.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups (475 ml) fresh apple cider
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar (light or dark)
  • 12 cinnamon sticks
  • 2 cups (475 ml) sparkling water (plain or lightly flavored)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • Ice cubes
  • Optional garnish: thin apple slices or a cinnamon stick

Instructions

  1. Pour 2 cups of fresh apple cider into a medium saucepan and add 2 tablespoons of brown sugar and 1 to 2 cinnamon sticks.
  2. Heat over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally to dissolve the sugar, about 5 minutes. Do not boil.
  3. Lower heat to the lowest setting and let the cider sit with the cinnamon sticks for another 10 minutes to infuse flavor.
  4. Remove the cinnamon sticks carefully.
  5. Stir in 1 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice.
  6. Let the warmed cider cool about 10 minutes at room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to chill.
  7. When ready to serve, pour the chilled cider into a pitcher and add 2 cups of sparkling water. Stir gently to combine.
  8. Fill glasses with ice cubes and pour the spritzer over. Garnish with thin apple slices or a cinnamon stick if desired.

Notes

Do not boil the cider to avoid bitterness. Stir brown sugar gently to prevent burning. Keep sparkling water cold and stir gently to preserve bubbles. Chill cider well before mixing. Garnish just before serving for best aroma and presentation.
