  • 8 hot dogs
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • Cooking spray or butter (for greasing)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it with cooking spray.
  2. Pat each hot dog dry with a paper towel. Set them aside on a plate.
  3. Open the crescent roll dough and carefully unroll it onto a clean cutting board. If using perforated dough, press the seams together gently to create a solid sheet.
  4. Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, slice the dough lengthwise into thin strips—about 1/4 to 1/2 inch wide. You should get about 8 to 10 strips per sheet.
  5. Take one hot dog and start wrapping a strip of dough around it, slightly overlapping as you go. Leave a small gap at the top for the mummy’s face (about 1/2 inch). Tuck the end of the dough under the hot dog to secure it.
  6. Place each wrapped hot dog on the prepared baking sheet, leaving about an inch of space between them.
  7. In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and 1 tablespoon of water until well combined.
  8. Using a pastry brush, lightly coat each wrapped hot dog with the egg wash.
  9. Bake for 12-15 minutes, until the dough is golden brown and the hot dogs are heated through.
  10. Remove from the oven and let cool for 2-3 minutes. Using a toothpick or the tip of a knife, place a tiny dot of ketchup or mustard on each mummy for eyes.
