A crowd-pleasing honey glazed Easter ham with a sweet and tangy pineapple brown sugar glaze that creates a tender, juicy, and flavorful holiday centerpiece.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 to 10 lb pre-cooked bone-in ham (preferably spiral-cut)
  • ½ cup honey (local raw honey recommended)
  • ⅔ cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 cup canned pineapple chunks, drained (reserve juice)
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • ½ teaspoon ground cloves
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C). Remove the ham from packaging and pat dry with paper towels. Let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes.
  2. Score the ham by making shallow diagonal cuts about 1/4 inch deep across the surface in a diamond pattern.
  3. Prepare the glaze: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine honey, brown sugar, pineapple chunks, reserved pineapple juice (about ¼ cup), apple cider vinegar, Dijon mustard, ground cloves, cinnamon, melted butter, and garlic powder. Stir frequently and bring to a simmer. Cook for 8-10 minutes until slightly thickened.
  4. Place the ham on the roasting rack in the pan, flat side down. Brush a generous layer of the glaze all over the ham, working it into the scored cuts.
  5. Roast the ham in the preheated oven for about 1 hour and 30 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 140°F (60°C). Baste the ham with more glaze every 20 minutes.
  6. During the last 10 minutes, switch the oven to broil and caramelize the glaze further, watching carefully to avoid burning.
  7. Remove the ham from the oven and tent loosely with foil. Let it rest for 15-20 minutes before slicing.
  8. Slice and serve with any remaining glaze warmed slightly as a drizzle or dipping sauce.

Notes

If glaze thickens too much, stir in a splash of pineapple juice to loosen. Cover ham loosely with foil if browning too fast. Use a digital meat thermometer for best results. Glaze can be made a day ahead and refrigerated. For dairy-free, substitute butter with coconut oil. Fresh pineapple can replace canned for a brighter flavor.
