Quick and satisfying sliders made with ham, Swiss cheese, and buttery buns, perfect for last-minute gatherings or comfort food cravings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 slider buns (soft dinner rolls or Hawaiian rolls)
  • 12 oz (340 g) thinly sliced deli ham (smoked preferred)
  • 1012 slices Swiss cheese (or Gruyère, cheddar as alternatives)
  • 1/2 cup (115 g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon poppy seeds
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Slice the slider buns horizontally, keeping them connected if possible.
  3. Arrange the bottom half of the buns in a 9×13-inch baking dish snugly.
  4. Layer the ham evenly over the bottom buns.
  5. Place the Swiss cheese slices on top of the ham, overlapping slightly if needed.
  6. Put the top half of the buns over the cheese layer and press down gently.
  7. In a small bowl, whisk together melted butter, Dijon mustard, mayonnaise, Worcestershire sauce, poppy seeds, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  8. Brush the butter sauce evenly over the tops of the buns.
  9. Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil.
  10. Bake for 15 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for an additional 5 minutes to toast the tops.
  11. Remove from oven and let the sliders rest for 5 minutes.
  12. Cut between the buns with a sharp knife to separate individual sliders and serve warm.

Notes

Use fresh, soft buns for best results. Covering with foil during baking keeps sliders moist and cheese melty. Remove foil at the end for a golden crust. Assemble ahead and refrigerate if needed, adding extra baking time when cold. For gluten-free, use gluten-free rolls. Variations include turkey, vegetarian options, and different cheeses.
