A quick and easy creamy shamrock shake blending cool mint and sweet vanilla for a nostalgic, refreshing treat perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups (480 ml) vanilla ice cream (recommend high-quality like Häagen-Dazs or Breyers)
  • 1 cup (240 ml) whole milk (can substitute almond or oat milk)
  • 1 teaspoon pure peppermint extract
  • 46 drops green food coloring (optional)
  • 12 tablespoons powdered sugar (optional)
  • Whipped cream for topping (homemade or store-bought)
  • Fresh mint leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Measure out 2 cups (480 ml) of vanilla ice cream, 1 cup (240 ml) of milk, 1 teaspoon of peppermint extract, and 4-6 drops of green food coloring. Have 1-2 tablespoons of powdered sugar ready if using.
  2. Place the ice cream and milk into your blender first to help with smooth blending.
  3. Blend on medium speed for about 20-30 seconds until the mixture is smooth but still thick.
  4. Add peppermint extract and green food coloring, then blend again for 10 seconds to combine evenly. Taste and add powdered sugar if desired.
  5. Adjust consistency by adding a splash more milk if too thick or a little more ice cream if too thin, blending briefly after each addition.
  6. Pour immediately into chilled glasses.
  7. Top generously with whipped cream and garnish with fresh mint leaves if desired.

Notes

Use chilled glasses to keep the shake frosty longer. Avoid over-blending to prevent melting the ice cream. Start with less peppermint extract and adjust to taste to avoid overpowering flavor. For dairy-free, substitute coconut or almond milk ice cream and plant-based milk. Leftovers can be frozen up to 2 weeks; thaw slightly and blend before serving.
