These Copycat Cracker Barrel Ham Sliders feature thinly sliced ham, Swiss cheese, and a warm honey Dijon butter sauce on soft slider buns, perfect for quick, cozy meals or casual gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 slider buns (soft small rolls, Hawaiian sweet rolls recommended)
  • 8 ounces thinly sliced deli ham or leftover cooked ham
  • 12 slices Swiss cheese
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Pickle slices (optional)
  • Poppy seeds for sprinkling

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Slice the slider buns horizontally in half, keeping them attached if they come in a connected pack.
  3. Arrange the bottom halves of the buns in a 9×13-inch baking dish in a single layer.
  4. Layer the ham slices evenly over the bottom buns.
  5. Add a slice of Swiss cheese on top of the ham.
  6. Place pickle slices on the cheese layer if using.
  7. Cover with the top halves of the buns, pressing down gently but firmly.
  8. In a small bowl, whisk together melted butter, Dijon mustard, honey, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  9. Brush the honey Dijon butter sauce generously over the top of the slider buns.
  10. Sprinkle poppy seeds over the top.
  11. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 15 minutes.
  12. Remove the foil and bake uncovered for an additional 5-7 minutes until the tops are slightly browned and the sauce crisps up.
  13. Remove from oven and let the sliders rest for 5 minutes before slicing along the bun seams.

Notes

If buns brown too quickly, keep foil on longer or reduce oven temperature by 10°F. Press buns gently before baking to meld layers and prevent falling apart. Sauce can be whisked until smooth for better absorption. Sliders can be assembled ahead and refrigerated unbaked for up to 24 hours. For dairy-free, substitute butter and cheese with plant-based alternatives. For gluten-free, use gluten-free slider buns or sandwich thins.
